How to Clean the Surface
Non-Stainless Steel Surfaces – To effectively clean the outside of your stove or range hood, wipe the surface with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth. Dry with a soft cloth. Do NOT use abrasive cleaners and cloths.
Stainless Steel Surfaces – To care for your stainless steel stove or range hood, follow these steps:
1. Find the direction of the stainless steel grain, which can be vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. Always wash and dry with the grain to avoid scratches.
2. Wash your hood with mild, soapy water and a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly. Do NOT use abrasive cleaners, cloths, or cleaners with chlorine.
3. Condition your hood with a stainless steel conditioner in the direction of the grain.
Do NOT apply the conditioner to logos, control labels, or black stainless steel.
How to Clean the Grease Filters
We recommend cleaning the metal grease filters every 1 to 3 months, depending on usage, to maintain your hood’s efficiency. Washing your hood’s metal grease filters regularly helps maintain its cleanliness and safety. The edges of the filters may be sharp so make sure to handle with care to avoid cuts.
Depending on what type of filter you have, downdraft, mesh or baffle you will access the filter differently. Watch the step by step instructions to learn how to clean the grease filter type.
Cleaning Activated Charcoal / Carbon Filters
Activated charcoal / carbon filters cannot be cleaned or washed and must be replaced when they become noticeably dirty or discolored (usually every 4 to 6 months, depending on usage).
Replacements for the activated charcoal / carbon filters can be purchased in the Thermador Accessories Store. Refer to your owner's manual to learn which filter you should purchase and how to replace them. If you do not have an owner's manual, you can download it here.
How Often Should I Replace Charcoal/ Carbon Filters?
Hoods that use a recirculation kit to recirculate air in the kitchen (instead of venting air outside) use charcoal/carbon filters to neutralize odors during cooking. Contact Thermador Customer Support at 1-800-735-4328 to determine if your hood uses a recirculation kit. If so, we recommend changing the charcoal/carbon filter every 4 to 6 months, depending on usage.
Review your owner’s manual for information on which charcoal/carbon filter to purchase and how to replace them. Replacement charcoal/carbon filters can be purchased in the Thermador Accessories Store.
How to Replace The Light Bulb
Here's how to replace the light bulb:
1. Turn off the ventilation. Allow the bulbs to cool before removing.
2. Use a screwdriver to remove the bulb cover.
3. Pull the old bulb straight out from the socket with a glove or cloth. Always wear gloves or use a cloth when handling halogen bulbs. Oils on your fingers can cause the bulb to burn.
4. Insert a new bulb into the socket and replace the bulb cover.
